Vinyasa Flow (english)

My interest in and fascination with yoga lies in how it opens us up to a more conscious way of inhabiting the body and in turn to a more conscious way of being in the world. Using elements from hatha, ashtanga and power yoga in a linked series of postures, my classes implicitly explore the connection between the physical body, emotions and mind. ​ The classes also emphasize strength over flexibility (strengthening our muscles is one of the fundamental ways we can protect our joints) and often include balances and inversions into the mix of postures as a way of building strength and providing a playful challenge. ​ Though originally from California, I completed the Teacher Training in Zurich in 2018 under the guidance of Stephen Thomas, Claire Dalloz, Doug Keller, Stefanie Zimmermann and Manuela Peverelli. For more than a decade I have also worked as an author and translator and have had the opportunity to interview on stage some of the greatest writers writing in English today. ​ As with yoga, the gains one makes in writing are not necessarily immediate—the page and the practice may not change from day to day, but the practitioner is always different. Yoga offers us a wonderful opportunity to flex our concentration by being aware of the moment to moment nuances, and it helps us develop an inner strength and calm that goes beyond the practice room.
