Rest in the Nest: Sound in Hammock with Guka

Have you ever felt like you were floating between waking and dreaming, held somewhere in that quiet space where the body begins to soften and the mind finally stops carrying quite so much?

Imagine being gently held in a soft hammock, cocooned by fabric, supported from every side, while waves of sound travel through the room. The subtle vibrations of singing bowls, chimes, and carefully chosen instruments weave around you, creating a landscape that is felt as much as it is heard. The hammock holds the body, while the sound seems to hold everything else. It is an invitation to rest.

An invitation to allow yourself to be supported in this soft way.

Over the years, this has become one of my favourite practices to share. Again and again, I have watched people arrive carrying the weight of busy schedules, responsibilities, endless thinking, and leave with softer faces, deeper breaths, and that familiar feeling of having returned a little closer to themselves.

Research around sound meditation and sound-based relaxation practices suggests that certain sounds and frequencies may help support the body’s relaxation response, encouraging a shift toward the parasympathetic nervous system, often called the “rest and digest” state. Studies have also observed reductions in tension, stress, fatigue, and anxious mood following sound meditation experiences. While sound healing is not a medical treatment, many people experience it as a deeply restorative and grounding practice.

As part of our Rest in the Nest series, Sound in Hammock is a space dedicated entirely to slowing down. A reminder that balance is not only found through movement, challenge, and growth, but also through stillness, softness, and allowing ourselves to be held.

Let the hammock carry your body & the sound carry the rest.

My story, my yoga journey, began over 20 years ago when I attended a random class in my hometown in Poland. Since that moment, I have never stopped discovering, and being inspired by the power of yoga. I started my yoga teacher training in 2017 and have been learning ever since. First, I completed a 250-hour vinyasa yoga teacher training course in Zurich, Switzerland. This inspired me to travel to India and deep-dive into hatha yoga with a 200-hour teacher training course at one of the ashrams in Rishikesh. Following that, I joined Threes PhysiYoga Method Program to complete an intensive 250-hour PhysiYoga training course for yoga teachers. Under the guidance of top physiotherapists from New York, I’ve been studying anatomy and mobility in yoga, which I’ve been bringing to my classes ever since. As you can see, I consider myself a ‘forever student’. I strongly believe that all forms of movement link the mind and body, and can have a powerful healing effect both mentally and physically. I incorporate many traditions: vinyasa, hatha, PhysiYoga, restorative yoga, sound bath, meditations, and aerial yoga, into my teaching. My goal is to use all aspects of yoga to empower my students and enrich their lives with healthy movement, calm mind and conscious breath.
