Tea Courses at Soasana Zurich

Diana, our yoga teacher from Korea, is also a certified Tea Sommelier, nationally recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Republic of China (Taiwan). She is excited to introduce you to the world of tea and to share a piece of East Asian culture with you.

Each course runs for 4 weeks and is designed to be taken as a whole, as the classes build on one another and go deeper into the topic week by week. However, it is also perfectly fine to join just one session! You will still learn a lot, enjoy the experience, and not feel overwhelmed.

The Art of Tea: Oolong Tea (February - March)

Discover the depth and complexity of oolong tea. The course will include:

  • An introduction to the history of tea and the six major types.
  • How oolong is produced and how it differs from other types of tea.
  • Proper steeping methods you can use at home with friends and family.
  • Tasting different varieties of oolong, such as Taiwanese High Mountain Oolong and Chinese Fenghuang Dancong.
  • Learning the fundamentals of tea tasting.
  • Recognizing and appreciating flavours and aromas with the help of tea meditation.
  • Distinguishing oolong from other teas through guided tasting.

The Art of Tea: Green Tea (May - June)

Discover the richness and variety of green tea. The course will include:

  • An introduction to the history of tea and the six major types.
  • How green tea is produced and how it differs from other types of tea.
  • Proper steeping methods you can use at home with friends and family.
  • Tasting major varieties of green tea, such as Chinese Xihu Longjing, Korean Sejak, and Japanese Matcha.
  • Learning the fundamentals of tea tasting.
  • Recognizing and appreciating flavours and aromas with the help of tea meditation.
  • Distinguishing green tea from other teas through guided tasting.

Über

Diana is a yoga and meditation teacher passionate about happiness. She began her journey at 14, captivated by the refreshing sensations of yoga. Driven to deepen her practice, she completed her first teacher training (RYT 200) in 2020, where she was introduced to meditation for the first time. This exploration into meditation and philosophy was life-changing, revealing the path to the greater happiness she had long sought. With over 7 years of experience as a software engineer, Diana has navigated high-stress environments and realised that true happiness cannot be found in external achievements. Instead, she discovered that happiness comes from inner peace and self-awareness, nurtured through yoga and meditation. Diana specialises in meditation and Ashtanga-based yoga classes, focusing on anatomical alignment and body awareness. Her approach includes hands-on adjustments to maintain alignment and deepen relaxation. She looks forward to guiding students toward inner peace, enhanced focus, and ultimately, greater happiness.
