An aerial silks class consists of a proper cardiovascular warm-up and flexibility training and is tollowed by guided instruction. This class includes elements of stretching, strengthening, balance and inversions. Participants will learn the basics of the aerial hammock, inversions, as well as basic tricks. Aerial yoga poses can provide an effective workout method for improving posture, strengthening the core, enhancing your flexibility, building strength and muscle, as well as helping with back pain, among other benefits. And you don't need to be an experienced yogi to enjoy these benefits. There are numerous beginner-friendly aerial yoga swing poses, which you can begin with, even if you've never practiced aerial yoga for a single minute in your life. Aerial yoga is not recommended tor people who are pregnant or for whom hanging upside down is not medically advised. Aerial yoga invites us to experience movement from a completely different perspective: sometimes strong and energising, sometimes soft and deeply calming, always connected to the breath. Using a soft fabric hammock suspended from the ceiling, we explore a practice that combines yoga, mobility, balance, stretching, strengthening, and gentle inversions. The hammock becomes both support and challenge: helping us create more space in the body while also asking us to stay present, focused, and aware. This class is a space to build confidence with the hammock step by step and explore the foundations of aerial yoga in a supportive and mindful way. We begin with a proper warm-up for the wrists, shoulders, spine, and core before moving through foundational poses, flowing transitions, balance work, stretching, strengthening exercises, inversions, and moments of rest in the cocoon-like support of the silk. Aerial yoga can help improve posture, flexibility, coordination, grip and core strength, body awareness, and spinal mobility. Many people also find the practice supportive for releasing tension in the back, regulating the nervous system, and reconnecting to a sense of playfulness and lightness in movement. At Yoga Nest, we share aerial yoga not only as a physical practice, but also as a way to explore mindfulness, trust, breath, and connection to the body. It is less about “performing” shapes and more about how the movement feels from within. You do not need previous aerial yoga experience to join. The practice is adapted progressively, with options and variations offered throughout the class. Please wear comfortable clothing that covers the backs of the knees and underarms, and avoid zippers or jewellery to protect the fabric. We also recommend avoiding heavy meals 2–3 hours before practice. Aerial yoga is not recommended during pregnancy or for anyone for whom inversions are not medically advised. This may include certain eye conditions, cardiovascular conditions, recent surgeries, vertigo, or unregulated blood pressure.
